There are some excellent and very good value restaurants in Murcia and the tapas here are famous - some of the best tapas bars are in Plaza de las Flores and around the Cathedral. Try "un tapeo" a tapas route spanish style - bar hopping and trying different dishes along the way.
Cartagena about 30 minutes drive is an important seaport and makes for a lovely day out whether shopping, sightseeing, eating in one of the restaurants in the port or taking boat trip around the harbour. There are museums, churches and city tours, a Roman villa and amphitheatre and also a submarine dating back to 1888.
The El Valle 18 hole Golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus is set in a beautiful desert valley landscape with the backdrop of the Mountains of El Valle National Park. The views from the clubhouse over the golf course are just stunning.
